The Physiotherapy Clinic – Newbury, Berkshire

What can I expect when I ring and make an appointment?

Our phones are manned on Monday – Friday between 8am and 8:30pm by helpful staff who will answer your queries and book you an appointment that is convenient to you. You will be sent a confirmation letter by email if you wish.

You will receive a text message reminding you of your appointment approximately 24 hours beforehand.

What can I expect from my initial consultation?

  • Compilation of medical history
  • Clinical assessment and examination
  • Appropriate treatment
  • Advice and instruction in self-management which may include an exercise program
  • Advice on estimated recovery time and the number of sessions you many require

At The Physiotherapy Clinic we firmly believe that education and advice on how to manage your condition are fundamental to successful treatment. By focusing on these aspects, we aim to keep the number of treatment sessions to a minimum.

What if physiotherapy is not the answer to my problem?

With your permission we can write to your doctor with information about your problem and our recommendations for further investigations or onward referral to another health professional. This is regardless of whether you are a private patient or may be using the NHS for further help.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?

If an appointment needs to be rearranged please give us as much notice as possible and we can move your appointment without charge.

Late cancellations and non-attendance charges are at the discretion of the clinician. We reserve the right to charge the full cost of an appointment for non-attendance or cancellation with less than 24 hours notice.

We offer a text message reminder service.

Can I use my health insurance for Physiotherapy?

Yes, depending on the terms of your policy.

We are registered with all the major health insurance companies and have unique provider numbers for BUPA, AXA/PPP and Aviva. Please contact us for this number if there is any difficulty in them locating us on their system.

Please note that when contacting Bupa to authorise treatment you will need to give them the clinic name not that of the individual therapist. Their system only recognises the clinic name.

We suggest that you obtain authorisation prior to attending for treatment and bring this and your policy number to your first appointment. In the majority of cases we invoice the insurers directly.

Most insurers require a verbal or written referral to physiotherapy from your GP or consultant.
